Dr. Gelrud is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Digestive Diseases at the University of Cincinnati, Director of Therapeutic Endoscopy in the Digestive Disease Center, University Hospital and Co-Director of the Pancreatic Disease Center, University Hospital.He received his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela.His training includes Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine-New England Medical Center, Tufts medical School, Boston, MA.Dr. Gelrud short-tracked into Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical, Boston, MA.He received a Masters Degree in the Clinical Investigator Training Program fro Harvard/MIT Health Sciences and Technology, Boston, MA., and completed an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.Dr. Gelrud is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and his interests include interventional Endoscopy, management of patients with recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis.Additionally, he is also interested in research of the medical therapy for recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis related to cystic fibrosis and genetic etiologies
Dr. Gelrud is an active clinical researcher and is the Principal Investigator for the North American Pancreatitis Study 2 (NAPS) at the University of Cincinnati.
