Miss Gauss graduated from the College of Charleston in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, and East Carolina University in 2003 with a Masters of Arts degree in the Art of Teaching.She is a fourth grade teacher at Weatherstone Elementary in Cary.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Edward Gauss III of Wilson.She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce Frantz of Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Edward Gauss Jr. of Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barron Ruffin Jr. of Wilson.The Hunt High School graduate received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the College of Charleston.She received a master's degree in teaching from East Carolina University and is a fourth grade teacher at Weatherstone Elementary School in Cary.She was presented at the 1998 North Carolina Debutante Ball hosted by the Terpsichorean Club.She is a member of Chi Omega sorority.

The bridegroom is the son of LaJune Hill Little of Snow Hill.He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Allen Byrd of Kinston.He graduated from Arendell Parrott Academy and received a bachelor's degree in animal science from North Carolina State University.He is employed at Kerr-Smith Homes and Land Inc.He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.
