Anna Wooten Gauss will receive a $500 scholarship and a plaque from the Wilson Jaycees honoring her as a 2006 Outstanding Teenager.

Gauss will receive the award during the 62 Annual Distinguished Service Awards Banquet on June 8 at Hardy Hall on the campus of Barton College.

Gauss is a senior at Greenfield School with 4.30 grade point average.She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and will attend North Carolina State University in the fall.Gauss's long list of accomplishments and activities include attending the NCSU College of Textiles S.T.E.P. program, being named a Wendy's Heisman nominee and serving as a Graduation Marshal in 2004 and 2005.Gauss also volunteers with the Red Cross Blood Drive and "The Brittany" soccer tournament.

Gauss is an accomplished athlete as well and was named the Greenfield School Female Athlete of the Year for the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 school years.Gauss was a varsity member of the girls' soocer, tennis and basketball teams and her athletic honors inlcude All South nominee for soccer, Doubles State Champion in tennis and Wilson Daily Times First Team All Area in basketball.

Gauss was on pace to break Greenfield's girls' basketball scoring record this season, but the school lacked the players necessary to field a team.Gauss overcame this disappointment by serving as an assistant Junior Varsity coach and ended the season as the team's main coach.
