Carol Garlinghouse, MSN, RNDirectorEmail: cgarling@mhc.orgCarol is a graduate of a diploma nursing program, has a BSN and MSN and is a certified Gerontological Nurse Practitioner.Prior to joining the Michigan Health Council staff in 2001, she had many years in acute and primary care.She developed and maintained a practice in a Nurse-managed center while on the graduate program nursing faculty at Michigan State University.She then took a position with the State Health Department as Senior Nurse Consultant and Manager of the Clincial Services Unit for the Michigan Cancer Control program.Along with her duties as Director of the MCN, she is also responsible for the Michigan Health Council's Nurse iCON program.

With the appointment of Jeanette Klemczak as chief nurse executive, the state can continue forming the strong public/private infrastructure necessary for addressing professional nursing issues in Michigan," said Carol Garlinghouse, Director of the Michigan Center for Nursing.

"Our goal is for the Michigan Center for Nursing to provide a central resource for all nursing workforce data, dealing with recruitment and retention issues, and strengthening nursing education," said Carol Garlinghouse, MSN, RN, Director of the Michigan Health Council Nurse ICON program.The Michigan Health Council will work in partnership with Public Sector Consultants, which originally recommended the creation of a Center for Nursing in a study it conducted on behalf of the Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services.
