Linda Gantt has been named manager for Georgia Power's Madison area office, a part of the company's Northeast Region.In this position, Gantt will oversee engineering, maintenance and construction of Georgia Power's electrical distribution system in Morgan, Greene, Walton, Newton, Jasper and south Oconee counties.This includes the Georgia Power offices in the Greensboro and Social Circle areas.She also will be responsible for community involvement and customer service activities in the area.Gantt began her career with Southern Company Services Inc., in April 1977 as a stenographer in the personnel department.Throughout her 27 years with the company, she has worked in a variety of positions, primarily in human resources (HR) as a business representative and a compensation and benefits analyst.For two years, she supported the northern regions of the state for Georgia Power as the HR business representative.She transferred from Southern Company to Georgia Power in June 2001 where she most recently served as assistant to the Georgia Power Northeast region distribution manager.Gantt has a bachelor's of science degree in business management from Shorter College.

Those flickers are caused by the equipment resetting itself when it detects an outage, explained Linda Gantt, assistant to the region distribution manager for Georgia Power.Power was restored to downtown by 4:20 p.m.

Meanwhile, Georgia Power Co. crews were trying to restore service to the hardest-hit areas, including Morgan and Greene counties, where 1,300 customers remained without electricity as of 12:30 p.m. today, Georgia Power spokeswoman Linda Gantt said.There were 6,000 customers without power in Clayton County, south of Atlanta, she said. Repair crews worked throughout the night to restore power in scattered areas of Athens, Winder, Hartwell and Gainesville, according to Gantt, who said contract workers had arrived from southern Georgia to assist beleaguered utility employees. "The folks who worked all night are at home resting, and fresh crews are out there right now," Gantt said.

"Customers will continue to see the same high customer service levels they always have from our company," said Linda Gantt, Georgia Power's Madison Area Manager."This site will have ample parking for everyone, and we have added a drop box in the parking area for customers who do not want to come inside."

"We're excited about our new office, and we look forward to seeing all our customers there soon," Gantt added.
