Clinical Dietician

Monica began her career by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.Shortly after moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, she returned to school and completed the requirements for the Masters of Science in Human Nutrition, as well as, the six month Dietetic Internship at Winthrop University.She currently practices as the clinical dietitian at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville (Mercy South).At Carolina Medical Center-Pineville, Monica works with both inpatients and outpatients.The outpatient clientele includes those with diabetes, heart disease, obesity, liver disease, kidney disease, hypoglycemia, healthy diet for pregnancy, need for weight gain, and eating disorders.She also works with the pediatric outpatient population.Prior to her work at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville, she was part of the large team of dietitians at Carolinas Medical Center, an 800-bed hospital where her focus was cardiac patients and patients with Lou Gehrig's Disease.In addition, she has been a guest lecturer for the Lupus Foundation.She has had the opportunity to work with the Catawba Indian resevervation and Girls on the Run program.In the past, she has enjoyed working at the Harris Teeter YMCA in the fitness center and teaching indoor cycle classes.Monica is excited to see what the future will bring.
