A majority of the 100 honors students in the International Baccelaureate program at Riverview High School this year have listed UCF among their top selections -- partly because UF has become more difficult than ever to get into, said Paul Gallagher, director of Riverview's program.
With the state's university system pressed by booming growth and the in-state Bright Futures scholarship program, "UCF looks like the new winner in Florida after all this," Gallagher said.
More than a few of his students are wooed by the campus.
"The pool and the dorms, that's what the kids talk about when they come back from UCF," Gallagher said.
