  The Georgia Marble Marching Festival, an all day marching band festival and competition bringing over 20 marching bands from across the state, was scheduled at Pickens High School from noon to 10 p.m. PHS Band Director Patrick J. Gallagher, Jr. said they have not yet set a new date. "We can't reschedule it immediately. It takes a while to organize something like that...We took a hit," he said.

  Patrick J. Gallagher Jr. is currently band director at Pickens High School in Jasper, Georgia and assists Mrs. Mary Land at Pickens County Middle School.

  Mr. Gallagher holds the B.M.Ed. from Berry College, and the M.M.Ed. from Georgia State University.Mr. Gallagher has done post graduate work at Georgia Tech and at West Georgia College.
  
  He is an active member of PAGE, MENC, and GMEA.His hobbies include tennis and running.He plays tennis competitively in ALTA, USTA League Atlanta, local and state tournaments and has been highly ranked in the state.
  
  He has served as Middle and High School Instrumental Festival Chairman; All-State Audition Chairman; Vice-Chairman; Middle and High School Clinic Band Chairman; and Instrumental Chairman on the district level.He has also served on the State Instrumental Council and as High School All-State Band Chairman.During his three years as All-State Band Chairman he helped introduce the use of computerized registration and scheduling.He has performed with the Lanier Symphony, Orchestra Atlanta, at numerous churches in North Georgia, and as a trumpet soloist with a number of performing ensembles.He also serves as an adjudicator at various marching and concert festivals in and around Georgia and New Jersey.
