"We are slightly ahead of schedule but the timelines remain unchanged -- substantial completion by October 2010 and occupancy by the spring of 2011," said Ron Gagnon, SAH president and CEO, at the conclusion of the meeting.

Occupancy will be three weeks to a month earlier than previously scheduled, but still in the late winter or early spring of 2011, as the board of directors approved a recommendation that Sunday, March 20, 2011, be "patient- move day."

The board will begin paying off the hospital once it is substantially completed, the thinking being to move up the patient move rather than make payments on an unoccupied substantially completed project.

"Our goal all along has been to occupy the site as soon as possible and we have been presented with a window to move early," said Gagnon.

The patient move, as well as all other aspects of relocation, will be conducted by specialists in the field, "North American leaders," says Gagnon, "and could be completed in a half day or so--I will leave the logistics up to them."
