The district is looking for a permanent replacement for LoPresti Principal Harry Gagliardi, who retired in January after nine years as principal.

"The upcoming retirement of Ed Strumello will be not only a loss to the students and staff of Bungay School, but the entire district as well," agreed Anna LoPresti principal Harry Gagliardi.

The new teacher at LoPresti will allow Principal Harry Gagliardi to split 54 kindergartners into two morning classes and one in the afternoon.Each will have 18 children.

One has 25 children and another has 29, according to Principal Harry Gagliardi, speaking in support of the parents.

At LoPresti School, where Searles' son is in first grade, concessions have been made by Principal Harry Gagliardi to make the boy's classroom peanut-free.Children have also been instructed to wash their hands after lunch and snack, and are encouraged to use a hand sanitizer when they're done eating.

While she's grateful for those actions, Searles said it's still not enough to protect her son and several others at the school who have similar allergies.She said there's no sink in the cafeteria, adding she has done countless hours of research showing that hand sanitizers only smear peanut butter into the skin.

"I'm very pleased that they are here," LoPresti Principal Henry A. Gagliardi Jr. said.
