Celestino Gaeta joined IPITEK in 2004 as Senior Scientist and Manager of IPITEK's Optical Subsystems and Sensors Group.At IPITEK, he is also responsible for the development of fiber-optic temperature sensors based upon temperature-dependent fluorescence decay.

Previously, Dr. Gaeta was the Director of Advanced Development at JMAR Technologies Research Division in San Diego, California, where his responsibilities included directing laboratory work for development of advanced x-ray point sources using a laser-produced plasma, along with developing system and component optical architecture.Dr. Gaeta also led the technical effort to develop a beta version of a first-generation x-ray point source.

Prior to his tenure at JMAR, Dr. Gaeta was with HRL Laboratories (formerly Hughes Research Laboratories) in Malibu, California for almost twenty years.At HRL Laboratories, he was a senior member of the technical staff and worked in areas that included integrated optics, optical modulators and sources, erbium-doped fiber lasers, nonlinear and adaptive optics, and electromagnetic scattering computation.

Dr. Gaeta holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.S. in Mathematics, both from California State University, Fresno, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
