Dave Gable, Chair of the LPMC and also a candidate for the county Soil and Water Commission, started off the event.He quickly turned things over to Sean, who gave an inspiring speech on how libertarian ideas are coming more into the mainstream."Ten years ago, if you talked about privatizing Social Security or legalizing drugs you would have been looked at as crazy."He also related the fact that the Libertarian Party is the only political party that trusts people to run their own lives, rather than have government bureaucrats run them for us.
After he finished, Dave came back up and opened up the forum to any candidate who wanted to speak on an issue.Two candidates for county commissioner came up and talked for a few minutes.As I listened to them, I found it interesting that both of them mentioned increases in property taxes as one of their primary motivations in running for office.
