The 8-0 school board vote followed an earlier vote Thursday in which the members of the teachers' union approved the pact by a tally of 162 to seven, according to Jared L. Freedman, a staff representative with the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Federation of Teachers.
"This contract not only benefits my membership and the school board, but the children of Pottstown and that's what we have all tried to remember through this," said Freedman.

Freedman, who was assisted on his side of the table by union President Beth Yoder, Vice President Robert Decker and teachers Lindi Vollmuth and Shannon Curry, also offered kind words.
...
"I've been doing this for 20 years and it is an absolute pleasure and distinction to work with Jim Bush," Freedman said.
...
"The whole scope of bargaining has changed in light of Act 1," Freedman said after the meeting.
