ATI Wah Chang Honors Rohm and Haas Company's Bart Frechem with Distinguished Service Award
Scientist Honored for Work on Corrosion Solutions
SPRING HOUSE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 2007--On the eve of his retirement, Hatfield-resident Bart Frechem, a Distinguished Scientist with Rohm and Haas Company, was honored for his many contributions to the field of corrosion with a Distinguished Service Award, presented by specialty metal manufacturer ATI Wah Chang at its international Corrosion Solutions Conference, held in Oregon last September.
Frechem, who retires at the end of December after 42 years with Rohm and Haas, leads the company's Corporate Corrosion Group.He joined the company at its Philadelphia plant, working with process research and development, supporting catalyst development and analytical techniques.After moving to the Research Corrosion Group 10 years later, Frechem developed electrochemical capabilities for corrosion testing and research.Among his accomplishments are a methodology for evaluating localized corrosion and development of a heat treatment that improved the corrosion resistance of zirconium welds.
Frechem holds a bachelor of arts in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.

Frechem is a member of the Materials Technology Institute (MTI) and NACE, formerly known as the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.
