Dr. Francis is an occupational medicine physician whose expertise is enhanced by training and experience in public health and preventive medicine.In addition to her clinical experience, she has worked as a pharmaceutical medical safety expert and in the area of quality of life outcomes research.

Her first love however, is patient care and working with a health care team to ensure that the community has a healthy work force.She takes a holistic approach when treating work injuries with a goal of restoring each employee's quality of life as quickly and as safely as possible.

"My approach to care is twofold – first to treat the current problem, and second to prevent the injury from happening again, if possible," Dr. Francis says."I also look at patterns of injury and when I find similar injuries occurring at one workplace I like to investigate further.Often just a minor adjustment in a work area can prevent the same type of injury from happening in the future.

"I believe in early intervention tailored to each individual's needs that involves the use of several different treatment methods, including medications, hot and cold therapy and physical therapy.

"Another key component of good patient care is communicating with patients regarding the nature of their injuries and explaining how they can actively participate in their care and recovery."

Dr. Francis completed medical school at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine and a master of public health at Emory University in Atlanta.She is board eligible in preventive medicine.
