Leo graduated from the University of Toronto in 1942 where he majored in Business and Finance and minored in billiards and squash.After failing the eye exam in an attempt to join the Navy he traveled to Washington D.C.- having memorized the eye chart - and became a Lieutenant in the US Navy.He saw action in the Pacific at Guam, and the Gilberts on the destroyer USS Brown, and officered the ship through a typhoon that left the majority of officers by their bunks.Upon his return from the Second World War, Leo reunited with his family, happily went to work and kept an eye open for "who fits with Fitz".In the spring of 1946 he met Teddy - his future bride, life partner and absolute best friend.
