David B. Fournier is a partner in the Intellectual Property Group of Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP.Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Mr. Fournier concentrates on patent matters in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical and medical device industries.He focuses primarily on patent procurement and portfolio management, rendering opinions relating to the validity, infringement and enforcement of patents, product lifecycle management strategies, negotiating and drafting license agreements, and performing due diligence relating to transactions involving the transfer of intellectual property assets.

Mr. Fournier also counsels clients on a variety of issues at the FDA-Patent interface, including patent term extensions, FDA exclusivity, Orange Book listings and other Hatch-Waxman related matters.

Mr. Fournier spent several years working as a patent scientist and patent agent with Pfizer Inc. (formerly Pharmacia Corp.). While at Pfizer, Mr. Fournier was responsible for development and implementation of product lifecycle management strategies for several key products.

Mr. Fournier has also published several articles in scientific journals including Gynecologic Oncology and Primary and Secondary Preventive Nutrition.

Mr. Fournier earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from DePaul University College of Law.He earned a Master of Science from Northwestern University, where his research focused on characterization of protein kinase C isozyme expression in human endometrial carcinomas and correlation with various clinicopathic disease features.
