FITCHBURG - Mr. and Mrs. David L. Forest of Fitchburg observed their 60th wedding anniversary on May 9.The couple renewed their wedding vows during a Mass held May 12 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, followed by an open house held in their home.Family, relatives and friends attended from Washington State, Florida, California and Massachusetts.

David Forest and the former Rita Rouisse were married on May 9, 1942, in St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Mr. Forest retired after 42 years employment at the former Simonds Saw & Steel Co; he served on the committee for the credit union.An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European theater and was a prisoner of war.He is a member of the American Legion and the Retired Men's Club.

Mrs. Forest worked at the former Cluett-Peabody Co. in Leominster.She is a homemaker.

They have four children, David Forest of Vancouver, Wash., Dennis Forest of Battle Ground, Wash., Jeanne Randall of Illinois and Larry Forest of Winchendon.
