Born in Mt. Vernon, Washington, William Ford is a graduate of Occidental College and of the Writer's Workshop, University of Iowa (MFA, PhD).William's taught both undergraduate and graduate writing courses at the University of Iowa and undergraduate courses in writing and in literature at Southwestern, Lycoming, and Coe colleges and has given presentations at regional and national writing conferences.Currently, he is an adjunct instructor on the distance learning (T.V.) system of Kirkwood Community College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa).He has published one book, THE GRAVEYARD PICNIC (The Mid-America Press, 2002), which won that firm's 2001 Writing Award.His poems, nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize, have appeared in FLYWAY, FREE LUNCH, THE IOWA REVIEW, NEW LETTERS, POETRY, SOUTHERN HUMANITIES REVIEW, and elsewhere and in two anthologies: VOICES ON THE LANDSCAPE (Loess Hills Press) and THE SECOND SET (Indiana University Press).

Irving was one of the five nominated winners of the Yukon Pacific Play Award for my one act play, BILLY, which was produced for Public Access TV and has had a successful Off Off Broadway production.
