After just two weeks, new head Val Ford is already contemplating making changes including a new logo and uniform from September, 2007 to mark the school's 50th anniversary.
She said: "I think it's a very exciting time for everyone at the school.Things are going to change, but as a new head my main priority at the moment is getting to know the students and staff.Any changes I make will first be discussed with parents, staff and students."
Mrs Ford, who was born in York, is also intending to raise standards at the school in St Peter's Road.
She added: "St Peter's is a good school but, with the support of the staff and students, I'm going to raise the standards.I feel very fortunate to have gained such an excellent team of both teaching and non-teaching staff and by working with pupils I hope to be able to ensure that every student who leaves the school, leaves with a choice for their future."
It has been a busy few weeks for Mrs Ford; not only has she moved from Mildenhall College of Technology in Suffolk, where she was deputy head, to her current position but she has also relocated home from Cambridge to Colne.
Mother of two grown-up children Mrs Ford said: "Starting at a new school and moving into a new house is really exciting.My feet haven't touched the ground long enough for me to feel nervous."
She wanted to be a teacher since the age of 12.
