Clovis veterinarian Troy Ford reported a horse tested positive for the virus on July 29.

An airline shipment was lost over the weekend and when it finally arrived, a day late, veterinarian Dr. Troy Ford said the semen looked great.

At Ford Veterinary Surgery Center in Clovis, veterinarian Troy Ford said about 80 percent of the almost 8,000 horses under his care are vaccinated.

"There are still some people out there who are willing to take the chance that their horses are not going to get it," Ford said.
