John Jack Flynn

> John E. "Jack" Flynn, 84, of Ellisburg, PA, with family at his side, left this earth to join his loving and greatly missed wife, on Thursday, May 1, 2008.

Born August 17, 1923, in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of Edward and Lena Hazel McCann Flynn.

He attended the country school on Fox Hill, Ulysses and graduated from Coudersport High School.Serving in the 324th Inf.Regiment, 44th Division during World War II in the European Theatre, John distinguished himself in battle by earning the Combat Infantryman's Badge, Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star.He enjoyed attending military

reunions over the years.

On April 24, 1949, in Andrews Settlement, PA, he married the former Phyllis M. Storey, who predeceased him on March 18, 2008.

Jack was employed as a truck driver/route salesman with Tastycake in New York City and worked locally as a milk hauler for canned and bulk milk, retiring from Sunnydale after many years.He was a member of the Ellisburg Union Church and the American Legion.He will long be remembered for his stories and Irish sense of humor.

Police said the driver , John Flynn , 19 , of Centennial , was found walking along the tracks of RTD's light rail line.He was being held.
