To Be A Champion goes back to the mid 80's when Tim Drown and Jon Floyd met at Plymouth State College where both were studying Physical Education with minors in Athletic Training.

Jon Floyd, the former Head Athletic Trainer of Maine Maritime Academy for the past 12 years, joined the company in January 2006 as a co-owner.Since college, Jon has been busy raising a family (he has a teenage son and daughter) along with Stephanie his wife, developed and taught a model physical education program, while contributing to his community.At Maine Maritime, Jon was selected the president of the Administrative Staff Union and a Campus wide Chief Steward.He served on various local, regional, and national professional committees all while developing and implementing strategies for his teams and athletes to decrease injuries while improving their overall athletic performance.
Jon's athletic training program and services where considered among the best in the NEFC (New England Football Conference) and the NAC (North Atlantic Conference).Jon's professional growth and development, commitment to his athletes and coaches and specialize training enabled him to implement cutting-edge techniques for keeping his athletes healthy and returning them to play quicker and faster with little to no risk of re-injury.Jon's commitment to his athlete's health and well being was instrumental in his obtaining a $10,000 grant from the NCAA to provide education and skill development in the areas of drug/alcohol prevention, supportive eating and nutrition, leadership, and team building.
Prior to serving as the Head Athletic Trainer, Jon was an Occupational Health and Wellness Specialist for four years, where he developed, implemented, and taught programs that enabled individuals to be stronger, fitter, leaner, and healthier resulting in substantial savings for organizations and improved the overall health and wellness of the individual.
Jon's devotion and commitment to life-long learning, especially with regards to human movement, injury prevention, and web based e-commerce enables us to serve our customers and clients in new and innovative ways.Most importantly, Jon's integrity, honesty, and commitment to family values set him apart from most other athletic development professionals.
As a top injury prevention specialist, Jon uses functional training, dynamic warm-up/movement prep, foam roller, and core strengthening to decrease overall injury rates while returning injured players back to play sooner.
