Telegraph Group Ltd. in London, for example, receives hundreds of digital files each week for its stable of publications, which includes The Daily Telegraph, said Mark Fletcher, group ad production manager.
"I am responsible for all ad production and planning activities for our newspaper products, and all planning issues for our magazines. This covers classified and ROP planning, copy chasing, processing of digital files received and ad setting," he said. The Telegraph Group has strict guidelines on the types of file formats it will accept; PDF is preferred although it will also process JPEG, TIFF and composite EPS formats, Fletcher said.

"Its sole use is the verification of customer's ad files, prior to leaving the customer's desktop," Fletcher said. The service is provided free of charge.
"FlightCheck Online copes with problems ranging from font inclusion to total ink weight. We can control the file structure delivered and use FlightCheck Online to check areas of concern.
"Ultimately, it gives us the confidence to open our systems to a much wider community."
Fletcher said the app meshes with the Telegraph Group's existing production workflow, allowing the publisher to allow advertisers to file digital ads for publications at deadline.
"We are constantly pushing our sales and production deadlines," he said.
