   Dr. Fleegler is a nationally-recognized expert in cancer-fitness. A board-certified specialist in medical oncology, she received her degrees from Swarthmore College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her postgraduate training and fellowship were at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also served on the medical school faculty. Dr. Fleegler is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Society for Clinical Oncology and the American College of Sports Medicine. Author of the acclaimed book The FORCE Program-the Proven Way to Fight Cancer Through Physical Activity and Exercise, Dr. Fleegler lectures widely and serves on the Board of Rocky Mountain Team Survivor. She is an expert advisor to the American Running Association and Runners' World, and is on the faculty of the University of Colorado. A competitive distance runner who has completed six marathons, numerous road races, and several triathlons, Dr. Fleegler lives and trains in Boulder, CO.

   Why nominated: Fleegler, an oncology doctor at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Boulder, recently published a book titled The FORCE Program on her new passion: promoting physical activity and fitness in cancer patients. Fleegler also serves on the board of Rocky Mountain Team Survivor, a group that promotes physical activity in cancer patients.
