  Peter Flanagan-Hyde teaches statistics at Phoenix Country Day School, Paradise Valley, AZ, where he is Assistant Head for Academic Affairs. Peter is keenly interested in schools and curriculum, having taught at a number of independent schools over the last 30 years. He has taught AP Statistics since its inception in the 1996-97 school year and has served as a Reader and Table Leader at the AP Reading. He is an AP Faculty Consultant in Statistics and has conducted numerous College Board Workshops and Summer Institutes. Peter is on the Editorial Board of Stats Magazine, a publication of the American Statistical Association, and writes a regular column that focuses on AP Statistics. He has written a variety of articles and reviews for AP Central, the College Board's AP web site, and contributes regularly to the AP Statistics electronic discussion group.

  I have asked Peter Flanagan-Hyde, Assistant Head for Academic Affairs and one of the people most deeply involved in the benchmarking process, to present the results of recent comparisons.

  My colleague Peter Flanagan-Hyde, Assistant Head of School, and I fielded important questions from parents and brought new information on topics ranging from faculty hiring and evaluation to the curriculum mapping project. (This included a "field trip" to the Upper School computer lab, where Peter showed parents some comparisons between PCDS and our 25 similar benchmark schools regarding grades, test scores, and athletic participation.) As several of these topics are relevant to all divisions, I thought I'd use Friday's discussion as the basis for this letter.
