   Betsy Finn, owner of Betsy's Photography Studio in Southeast Michigan, is a Certified Professional Photographer, and member of PPA, PPM, and DPPA. She completed the certification process in October of 2006, and is happy to help others start the journey to become certified.    Local Dexter photographer Betsy Finn was recently named one of the Top 7 Photographers of 2008 by the Professional Photographers of Michigan. This award was given in recognition of Finn's accomplishments at the 2008 Print Competition.

   All of the prints Finn entered received awards, including three "Awards of Excellence," two "Gold Court" ribbons, and one "Award of Merit." Her portrait of a local family was the recipient of two additional awards. The family portrait, "Three vs. One," was the recipient of the award for the "2008 Highest Scoring First Time Entry," and the "2008 Court of Honor Portrait" award.
   
   "I was so happy with how well my prints did, but I admit I was surprised to keep hearing my name called during awards," said Finn, who owns Betsy's Photography in Dexter.

   When my husband and I got engaged in 2005, I decided I needed to create a business that would grow as my name changed from Ash to Finn. So, at that point, I created Betsy's Photography, and narrowed my specialization to mainly portraits and wedding photography. I personally photograph all weddings and portrait sessions, and my husband, Steven, is my second photographer and assistant at weddings.
   
   Photography organizations: Professional Photographers of America (since 2005), Professional Photographers of Michigan (since 2007), and Detroit Professional Photographers Association (since 2006). Finn also is a member of the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce.
   
   Native of: Ann Arbor.

   In 2006, Finn received the title of Certified Professional Photographer (this is an elite program that requires passing a written exam and having a portfolio of actual client work reviewed by nationally recognized photographers). She also attended the Great Lakes Institute of Photography in 2007.
