Michele Finch says the wind took the penalty noticeA high-flying businesswoman slapped with a littering fine after a parking ticket dropped off her car today branded the decision "petty".
Michele Finch, 44, a director of old-style soccer shirts firm TOFFS, was handed with the charge after being issued with a £30 ticket for parking in a loading bay in March 2004.
Enforcement officers say she leaned out of the window of her £30,000 Mercedes and threw the notice away.But she claimed the ticket blew off in the wind.
Today Mrs Finch, once shortlisted as the North East's female entrepreneur of the year, said she plans to appeal after being hit with a double fine and court bill of £450.

Mrs Finch was on a shopping trip in her Mercedes ML cdi with son Joshua, 12, when she was spotted parking in Bay 334, on Scotswood Road, Newcastle, where a daily charge of £30 applies.

Mrs Finch, who set up the internationally renowned firm TOFFS with husband Alan in their front room more than 10 years ago, had intended to fight the charge.
She had compiled weather reports from the day and planned to call son Joshua as a witness.But after a mix-up with court times, she failed to turn up to the trial and the case was proved in her absence.
In her original letter written to Newcastle City Council contesting the decision, Mrs Finch said: "I attempted to wind down my window to retrieve the ticket - which was not properly affixed to the car, therefore it was flapping in the wind.

At the hearing yesterday, Mrs Finch was ordered to pay a fine of £50 for littering, as well of court costs of £400.
She has confirmed she will be appealing against the conviction.
