Sydney Football Stadium has been a venue for a number of large-scale concerts in recent years and head curator Michael Finch believes Bruce Stadium should handle the extra workload as long as traffic on the playing field is minimal.

We had U2 here in 1998 on a Friday night. The concert finished at around 11pm that night, we had the stage construction down by around 4.30pm on Saturday and then they played league on the ground on Sunday.

We had some damage where the main concert traffic such as cranes and forklifts were, but that was basically around the ground's perimeter, and the actual playing surface was fine.We used rubber matting for the U2 concert and that minimised the rutting effect of the crowd jumping up and down but that should not be such a factor down there.
