Michael Finch

Michael Finch, Chairman of the East Surrey Talking Newspaper has received a Community Volunteer Award. It was presented by the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead Mrs. Dorothy Ross-Tomlin at a ceremony in the Mayor's Parlour at Reigate Town Hall. The award was made by the Borough in recognition of thirty years continuous service to the Association as Founder, Chairman, and regular recorder .

Our Newspaper was created by Michael Finch, who was then a local Radio and Television shop proprietor. His inspiration came from a talk to the Reigate Rotary Club during the year in which he was their President. He is still our very active Chairman

Michael Finch, aged 80, from Reigate founded East Surrey Talking Newspapers for sight impaired residents in 1977.He has been Chairman for 30 years, recording, dispatching and collecting the tapes with the help of his team of volunteers.
