MILLVILLE -- Former City Commissioner Dale Finch is having another go at local elected office.
Finch, 56, announced Wednesday that he has picked up a nominating petition.The main thrust of his campaign will be preserving the city's quality of life, he said.
"We see some areas that are in decay and we need to do something about it," Finch said, citing concerns that crime and other problems are growing in areas like Center City.
Finch added that the city needs elected officials with time to spend at City Hall.
"I feel that the town is on the verge of some major changes, and I think we need elected officials who will donate the time to see it's done in the right way," he said.
Finch is retired from state government, but currently runs a consulting business.
His career was spent mostly in the Department of Community Affairs' Division of Local Government Services.
Finch was a city commissioner from 1977 to 1989.He has been a Municipal Housing Authority commissioner since 1991.He also served one term as an elected member of the Board of Education.
All five current city commissioners are running for another term.
