Mr. Filmer was raised and educated at Westport until the age of 15 when his family moved to Gilroy, Calif.It was there that he began his 65-year career as an electrician.He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater during World War II.He met and married Alice Larrsen Filmer in 1951 and they made their home at Westport.Bud, as he was known, served on the steering committee for the water district where he then became the first chairman of the board of directors.He served as a trustee at the Community Church and was instrumental in construction of the new church building on Abalone Street.He donated many volunteer hours working for the Ten-Mile Westport Cemetery District.He was a 65-year-member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 302.
