KRISTINA S. FILMER

SENIOR PUBLIC AFFAIRS CONSULTANT

Kristina Filmer joined The Jeffery Group Ltd. in February 2001, following six years with the Ontario government, most recently in the Office of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance.

As Senior Public Affairs Consultant with The Jeffery Group, Kristina is responsible for the development and execution of strategic communications and government relations strategy for a variety of the firm's clients in the public and private sectors.

Kristina brings to The Jeffery Group a breadth of experience in government policy development, implementation and communications planning.Most recently Kristina was Senior Policy Advisor to the Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance.As Senior Advisor, Kristina worked closely with the Minister and provided strategic policy and political advice on a number of critical public policy issues including provincial corporate and commodity taxes (corporate income tax, employer health tax, retail sales tax, fuel and gasoline taxes etc.) and the regulation of the financial services industry including the securities, pension, insurance, credit union and mutual fund industries.

Examples of specific projects Kristina was responsible for include: extensive consultation with the insurance industry on changes to the Automobile Rate Stability Act, 1996; consultations with the financial services sector on the proposed merger of the Ontario Securities Commission and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario; preparation and implementation of annual provincial budgets including legislation; and, overseeing the ongoing development of a Charter of Taxpayer Rights for Ontario's tax administration system.

Prior to her work as Senior Policy Advisor, Kristina was seconded to the Premier's Office as Special Assistant, Corporate Communications and Strategic Planning and was responsible for the creation and implementation of a government wide strategic communications plan.In addition, Kristina was responsible for ensuring the delivery of consistent communications and messaging across all government ministries.

Prior to 1999, Kristina was MPP Liaison to the Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance.In this role, she was the Minister's conduit with all Members of Provincial Parliament and their staff.Kristina began her career with the Ontario government in 1995 as Legislative Assistant for the MPP for Middlesex.

Kristina holds an Honours BA in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.She has lived and been educated around the world.She was born in Bologna, Italy, and has resided in the Bahamas, New Zealand, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.Kristina enjoys skiing, tennis, and traveling.
