Mr. Filler received his J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law in 1986, where he was honored as a Paul J. Liacos Distinguished Scholar and as Projects Editor for the American Journal of Law and Medicine. He received his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1981. Following law school, Mr. Filler practiced with Goldstein & Manello, one of the largest firms in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the course of his legal career, he has tried over twenty jury trials, and litigated more than fifteen appeals.
Mr. Filler is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of New York and the Federal District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Court. Mr. Filler has also been admitted to practice before the courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Jersey where he currently maintains inactive status. He regularly writes and speaks on legal, intellectual property, technology and environmental issues.
Mr. Filler consults and work closely with environmental and non-profit organizations. He is on the Board and Secretary of the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater and on the Board of the New York Solar Energy Industries Association. He is co-founder and legal advisor to New York Climate Rescue, an organization committed to reducing global warming by acting locally within the New York Metropolitan area. He is a member of Co-Op America and of the Sustainable Hudson Valley business Network. He has also has been on the Steering Committee of the Indian Point Safe Energy Coalition, a coalition of over 70 non-profits and citizen groups committed to closing the Indian Point power plants located 35 miles from New York City.
He is former Co-Chairman of the Entertainment, Media, Intellectual Property and Sports Law (EMIPS) Section of the New York County Lawyers' Association, and of the Law and Business Special Interest Group of the New York New Media Association.
Mr. Filler is a Democratic Party District Leader and a member of the Planning Board in Irvington, New York. He is an active runner and has run four New York City Marathons. -
