"We pride ourselves on being able to quickly incorporate the feedback we receive into the products we produce, and I'm very pleased to present the upgrade," said Jason Ferraro, designer of the CLAW . "I believe the upgrade presents the functionality needed to match the ever increasing complexity of game-play."

Ferraro Design has redeveloped the program code of the CLAW to permit the assignment of a modifier function to any button. This upgrade increases the functionality of the CLAW . Any one of the 9 CLAW buttons may be configured as the modifier button. When the modifier button is pressed an alternative program set is accessed. Now the only reason to reach for the keyboard is to type!

All new stock contains the upgraded chip and Ferraro Design has produced an easily installed upgrade kit for current CLAW owners.

I received an e-mail from Ferraro Design a couple of days ago and totally forgot to post this info.I still have to review this nifty device for the site but the CLAW has been upgraded ! The first CLAWprovided gamers with fingertip access to 9 of their most frequently used commands. With the new CLAW gamers now have up to 16 commands at their disposal. We pride ourselves on being able to quickly incorporate the feedback we receive into the products we produce , and I'm very pleased to present the upgrade , said Jason Ferraro , designer of the CLAW . Team Xbox | The Claw: Altering Control - [Cached Version]
Published on: 5/28/2002    Last Visited: 4/14/2003

In a closed meeting with Jason Ferraro of Ferraro Design, he showed me a prototype of a device that could possibly change the direction that console developers take their games.

You may already be familiar with The Claw, a gadget that Ferraro Design has released for PC gamers to use while playing games that require more control and comfort than a simple mouse and keyboard setup.Using an ultra comfortable mouse-like device that molds to the contours of your hand, The Claw has buttons at the convenience of your fingertips hat makes gameplay fun and easy over the use of a customary keyboard.Though this concept may at first seem to have no relevance towards console gaming, you may be pleasantly surprised.Ferraro now hopes to expand their reach and develop a custom version of The Claw for their favorite console-the Xbox.

While using a design very similar to that of the PC version, The Claw for the Xbox uses a combination of a hand molded device and a mouse that would be ideal for first person shooter games such as Halo and the upcoming Unreal Championship. The design allows for the gamer to comfortably place The Claw in his or her lap while placing the arms slightly in front. The prototype device consists of a Claw on the left hand side of the rig that will have buttons for basic motor movements (forward, backward, strafe left/right) and all of the Xbox face button commands. On the right side of the setup is a mouse for looking around in your environments and firing first and secondary weapons.

Here is a button by button break down of the controller:
