Following high school, Mr. Ferguson worked as a machinist at Thompson Aircraft and then enlisted in the U.S. Army.He was a proud member of Company "B" 2828th Engineer Combat Battalion and saw combat in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany.He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Jefferson V.F.W. Post 3334.He was also the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon with Bronze Arrowhead.For many years, Mr. Ferguson and his family owned and operated a dairy farm on Footville-Richmond Road.They were past winners of the Ashtabula County Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year Award.He was past officer in the Ashtabula County Holstein Club, Ashtabula County Farm Bureau, and the Ashtabula County Soil and Water Conservation District.He was an active past member of the Rock Creek United Methodist Church and a current member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church.He will be remembered for his love of farming, enjoyment of TV sports, bowling, fondness for happy times playing cards with friends at the Jefferson Senior Center and especially spending time with his grandchildren and following their many activities.
