Ally began Highland Dancing in the summer of 2001 at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, taking lessons from Heather Edwards.

After moving to Massachusetts later that year, Ally continued her studies with Karen Mahoney and Lindsay Page of the Boston Highlanders.

As a competitor in the Beginner class, Ally has won numerous medals and trophies throughout New England, North Carolina, Ontario, and Quebec.When she is not practicing for Highland competitions and HDB performances, Ally takes Cape Breton step dance lessons from Christine Morrison, and Scottish tenor and snare drum lessons from members of Tulach Ard Pipe Band.Her tartan is Dress Wine Sutherland.

Outside of the Scottish arts, Ally is a doctoral student studying soft condensed matter physics at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
