  Formerly Marketing & PR Officer for Quarry Bank Mill, Styal, and a committee member of the Cheshire Peaks and Plains Tourism Association, Alice Ferguson went on to work for many years as a freelance copywriter and PR consultant specialising in tourism throughout the North of England, and working closely with ENGLAND North Country.She is now Visitor Economy Development Manager for Visit Chester AND Cheshire, her post being a joint initiative between Visit Chester AND Cheshire and Macclesfield Borough Council.Alice will provide an insight into the benefits of partnership working between the tourism board, the local authority and private sector businesses, drawing on specific projects including the Textile Triangle marketing group, the 2009 East Cheshire Textile Festival and CHESHIRE Year of Gardens 08.

  VisitCheshire's Alice Ferguson has organised the competition to give businesses an incentive to produce the best display possible.
  
  "It's quite nice to reward somebody for all their efforts," she said.
  
  So far scores of businesses in King Street have offered to decorate their shops to impress show visitors who arrive in Knutsford by train then walk into Tatton Park.
