"Single blankets are the pressing need at the moment," centre president Alf Ferguson said.

"But they have to be in good condition. If you wouldn't use it, it's no good to anyone else."

Mr Ferguson explained that doonas are always greatly appreciated as one doona is equal in warmth to a couple of blankets.

If the centre does not receive enough blanket donations this winter they will have to purchase new blankets to ensure nobody goes without.

"Nobody gets turned away," Mr Ferguson said.

St Vincent De Paul group president Alf Ferguson echoed the sentiment but said he was worried about graffiti which had already been put on the toilet.

Ms Crossman, Ms Hillan and Mr Ferguson were all happy with the position of the toilet.

"BLOODY INSULT": St Vincent De Paul's Orange centre president Alf Ferguson with the ‘donations' the charity received on Sunday night.
    ...
"It's a bloody insult to put the stuff there," said St Vincent De Paul's Orange centre president Alf Ferguson."In your wildest dreams you wouldn't donate this stuff to be used by people on welfare."He said disposing of unusable items dumped at the Kite St premises was a weekly problem. It costs the charity $10 for every load they take to the resource recovery centre as well as two to three hours work.Unwanted goods contributed heavily towards trips to the tip "once or even twice a day," Mr Ferguson said. "It's cheaper for people to dump things here ... don't tell me these items were donated with the best of intentions," he said.He said rubbish was usually dumped at the premises under the cover of darkness.Despite the frustration of receiving unusable goods, St Vincent De Paul's was grateful for genuine donations, he said.

The Orange branch has called for further donation of blankets after it has been forced to purchase new items to keep up with the demand, according to centre president, Alf Ferguson.

"We desperately need warm blankets. It's raining again in Orange and suddenly we've run out of blankets," he said.

"We've used up all our stock and started using our new ones and now they're also running a bit thin."

However, Mr Ferguson has been delighted with local generosity over the last two weekends confirming that the society has raised nearly $7,500 in church donations.

"We're lucky to live in a town with very generous people and that we do very well."

But he still urges the community to continue their compassion.
