  Stacy FenderI see that [ product development ] in a big way in Korea , Stacy Fender , Xilinx area sales director told Asian Sources Electronics Engineer last October.My country manager in Korea tells me that there's tons of redesign work going on right now.They are looking at these systems that they are not selling and they are saying : how can we make them cheaper , better , and faster?.Taiwan has also stepped up product development , taking a more aggressive stance since it now sees the opportunity to grab some of Korea's business during the upswing in economy.
  
  This trend is good for the test and measurement ( T&M ) industry because testing , which traditionally followed design , now starts very early in the design process.Moreover , China's rapidly growing telecommunication industry , deregulation in Taiwan , and cable and satellite projects in Korea , Singapore , Thailand and Malaysia will provide the test industry a shot in the arm.

  Stacy Fender is the Managing Director of Xilinx Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. and will oversee all operations of the company's regional headquarters in Singapore that will provide support for customers, partners and sales offices throughout Asia Pacific and Japan.Fender joined Xilinx in 1994 and was instrumental in establishing the Xilinx sales offices throughout Asia Pacific.He has held various positions within the company, including area sales director for Asia Pacific, president of Japan/Asia Pacific sales, and most recently senior director of sales based in Xilinx's corporate headquarters in San Jose, California.Prior to joining Xilinx, he was the Asia Pacific district sales manager for Phoenix Technologies in Hong Kong.Earlier, he worked as a sales manager at Harris Semiconductor and as a field sales engineer at Texas Instruments.Fender earned his bachelor's of science degree in computer engineering from Auburn University in 1983.
