OVERVIEW
The Humanities Junior Fellows program provides an opportunity for HUM 324 & HUM 414 students to undertake guided research on topics or texts in the Humanities, preferably on materials that are either recent additions or not currently part of the Humanities curriculum.Each Humanities Junior Fellow (HJF) will work with a faculty member on a research project of his or her choice.

Fellows are also encouraged to present their work at an Undergraduate Research Symposium and to submit it for publication in the Journal of Undergraduate Research.Students may receive academic credit for their work (3 hours).

Fellows are strongly encouraged to investigate subjects and texts which are either not currently part of the Humanities curriculum or which are recent additions to course readers. The HJF will find a faculty mentor who will be willing to guide his or her research.Faculty familiar with the proposed subject or texts should be chosen. In consultation with the faculty mentor, the HJF will write a 1-2 page research project proposal, including a clear statement of purpose, a working bibliography, a proposed schedule for completion of the various components of the research, and a budget, if necessary. After approval by the faculty mentor, the HJF will submit his or her proposal to the director of the Humanities Program for approval. Each Humanities Junior Fellow is strongly encouraged to present his or her work to the campus community through the Undergraduate Research program and to consider submitting his or her findings for publication in the Journal of Undergraduate Research.
