Dr John Fell of the University of Manchester is appointed as a consultant.
John FellManesty are delighted to announce that Dr John Fell, a senior lecturer within the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Manchester, has been appointed as a consultant to their Process Development Group.
The Process Development Group is strategically important to Manesty.It is responsible for customer trials, operator training, seminars, liaison with academia and is the cornerstone of their product development programme.Manesty's investment in this team aims to develop their strong customer links and keep them at the forefront of process technology.
Dr Fell is already known to many Manesty customers through his participation in the recent series of technical seminars.He will work closely with the Process Development Group during the process testing of Manesty's exciting new range of tablet presses and be at the forefront of their launch to market.Dr Fell brings his wealth of experience in Pharmaceutical Technology across the product range.
At the University of Manchester, Dr Fell is involved with both the mechanics of solids dosage production and the efficacy of clinical performance.Accordingly, he is in an excellent position to offer Manesty a greater insight into the way customers use, and want to use, their equipment which, in turn, will be invaluable for future product development.
When asked about his aspirations, Dr Fell has no hesitation in advising, "My mission is to bring rationalisation to solids dosage production.We need to lay down more principles and have less trial and error.Tablet production in particular needs to become more of a science.To do that, we must first understand more about the behaviour of finely divided particles both in formulation and compression".Clearly such advances in understanding will be invaluable to Manesty in the future.Manesty have always worked closely with local universities and have sponsored many students.Dr Fell's appointment is a step towards making this association even stronger.
Dr Fell has published over 100 scientific papers and speaks on the subject of solid dosage forms at numerous conferences.He is currently organiser of a course on tablet and capsule formulation run by the European Continuing Education College.Dr Fell clearly has a passion for his subject and is eager to see more of his academic research result in commercial success.
