Susie Feldman, senior endowment development manager for the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, knows this firsthand.A successful tax lawyer who is the daughter of Holocaust survivors, she told the powerful story of her abusive husband, a Jewish physician.She married him, perhaps too hastily, thinking he was her ideal mate.

They lived the "good life," traveling to Europe on the Concorde, and owning a time-share in the south of France.Yet, gradually he began to control and abuse her, first emotionally and then physically."I was beaten, raped and thrown out of the car," she related.Ultimately, she fled with her children to another city to escape him.

June 1, 2006 - The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and Charter One Bank announced today an unprecedented new partnership in which the Charter One Foundation has made a $200,000 grant over two years to Federation's Annual Campaign in support of five community programs.To date, the Charter One Foundation grant represents the largest corporate donation ever made to the Campaign.In addition to the grant, Charter One and Federation are coordinating a corps of Charter One employees who will volunteer their time in support of five community programs as follows:
