    Marvin J. Feldman, MS, RPhMr. Feldman is Pharmacy Service Line Practice Leader with BD Healthcare Consulting & Services.He has over 20 years combined experience in the pharmaceutical and consulting fields, providing support to hospitals, group purchasing alliances, manufacturers, distributors, and professional associations in both the public and private sectors.

    Mr. Feldman has served as the Director of Pharmaceutical Services at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts, the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Operations at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and has held various other positions in practice settings.

    As part of his pharmaceutical consulting experience, Mr. Feldman was project manager for an engagement with the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP).He also led the project team that worked with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to benchmark the level of pharmaceutical services provided in 23 state operated hospitals and community mental health centers.Mr. Feldman's team developed a model for consolidating and privatizing pharmacy services, projected to reduce annual costs by $ 800, 000, while upgrading drug distribution and targeted clinical services to state-of-the-art standards.

    Mr. Feldman recently developed a PC-based decision support model to help pharmacy directors evaluate the cost/benefit of using regional sterile compounding and/or other premixed IV technologies as a means to re-deploy personnel and reduce drug costs.He also pioneered the concept and practical application of Material Use Evaluation (MUE), which employs pharmaceutical cost management techniques for expensive, clinician preference products such as orthopedic implants.

    Mr. Feldman is a frequent speaker at professional societies, universities, and vendor sponsored programs.He also facilitates interdisciplinary workshops on maximizing pharmaceutical care outcomes, the hospital executive's role in supply cost management, and methods to manage the rising expense of clinician preference products.He also lectured at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences.

    Mr. Feldman has published extensively in journals such as the Archives of Internal Medicine, The American Journal of Hospital Pharmacy, the American Journal of Intravenous Therapy & Clinical Nutrition, the New England Journal of Medicine, and Hospital Purchasing News.

    Mr. Feldman is a past Chairman of the Pharmacy Committee for Healthcare Services of New England, currently serves as the Executive Coordinator for the Massachusetts Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and was named Ciba-Geigy Hospital Pharmacist of the Year in 1987.

    He received his Master of Science in Hospital Pharmacy Administration from Northeastern University and his Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences.
