   Mr. Feldman conducted parallel processing research at Fujitsu Laboratories in Tokyo from 1988 to 1990, as part of the Japanese Fifth Generation Computer Project. He then joined Sequent Computer Systems where he worked for 10 years. Here Mr. Feldman filled numerous engineering leadership roles, becoming an expert in Windows NT and Unix based SMP device drivers, LAN networking and Systems Management. Later, as part of Sequent's Technical Marketing and Professional Services groups, he led sales teams in promoting and implementing Thin Client technology in the United States and the Asia Pacific regions. Mr. Feldman then worked at the NUMA-Q Division of IBM in Japan, after which he joined Turbolinux as Director of Corporate Globalization. Mr. Feldman received his BSEE and MSEE degrees from Purdue University, and studied Japanese in Cornell University's FALCON program.

   Meanwhile , on the WBT side , many corporations in Asia are interested in using Multi-User NT thin client technology to solve their desktop Y2K problems quickly and cost-effectively , without having to replace every non-compliant PC in their company , said Mark Feldman , technical program manager , Asia-Pacific Business Development , Sequent Computer Systems.
   
   Most of the companies in Asia and worldwide are driven by a handful of very visible benefits , usually one. in particular that is causing them immediate pain , added Feldman.
   
   Multi-User NT was the only way to deploy earlier. versions of business critical enterprise application suites over the WAN with reasonable performance
   
   Some companies need to use Multi-User NT technology to insert a single business application into the IS environment of a company they partially own or have bought recently , yet whose desktops are under-powered or difficult to manage..
   
   While the relatively high price of WBTs , compared to low-end desktops , continues to be a concern in Asia , Feldman claimed a company often realises that the WBT is the most operationally efficient device once it implements Multi-User NT.
   
   Microsoft has not forgotten about its NetPC. initiative either. Yong Yun Seong , BackOffice product manager , Microsoft , said the NetPC specifications have not changed and Microsoft is testing NetPC in conjunction with Microsoft Zero Administration Kit and Windows 2000 development effort.
