    CHICAGO, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mark J. Feldman, D.M.D., who lives in Roslyn, New York, and has practiced the dental specialty of endodontics, was installed as president of the American Dental Association. Dr. Feldman's installation took place during a meeting of the American Dental Association House of Delegates in San Francisco.

    As president, he will lead the more than 155,000-member organization's efforts to protect and improve the public's oral health and promote advances in dentistry.

    "I look forward to leading the ADA's initiatives to improve access to oral health care for children and the vulnerable elderly who are currently underserved," Dr. Feldman said. "I also want the Association to do everything possible to increase public awareness that oral health is an integral part of over-all health."

    Dr. Feldman served for six years as the first treasurer of the ADA to be elected by the House of Delegates, the association's legislative and governing body. During this period, the Association experienced significant changes, including the hiring of a new executive director, a new chief operating officer, and a new chief financial officer. Working as the link between the House of Delegates, the Board of Trustees and the new executive staff, Dr. Feldman was able to streamline the reporting of the Association's financial affairs to the membership. He also successfully oversaw rebuilding of the ADA's depleted reserve accounts and the adoption of a dues stabilization policy that has allowed the organization to experience continued growth while limiting dues increases to no greater than general inflation.

    Dr. Feldman received his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed his specialty training in endodontics at Nassau County Medical Center. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics as well as a member of all the honorary colleges of dentistry.
