Feathers stressed the same importance of ownership when explaining how Wurld Media will compete with similar online music networks.
Yahoo! earlier this month unveiled Yahoo Music Unlimited, which offers subscribers access to 1 million songs at a price much cheaper than similar networks.Feathers said that many Yahoo! customers will probably lose interest in the service that costs $6.99 monthly after they realize they don't own any of the music they could have purchased on Peer Impact.
"There's competition for music, but there's no competition for what we're doing," said Feathers.
