Wade A. Farraway, Utah Attorney General's Office, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit
Wade A. Farraway is the Director of the Utah Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and Assistant Attorney General with the Utah Attorney General's Office.Mr. Farraway is responsible for the management of the Medicaid Fraud staff of auditors, investigators and support personnel, and the administration of investigations and prosecutions of health care fraud, patient abuse and exploitation.As an Assistant Attorney General, Mr. Farraway has also represented the State of Utah in criminal matters at the Insurance Fraud Division.Mr. Farraway is also cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the U.S. Attorney's Office.Mr. Farraway works closely with state and federal agencies, such as the FBI, U.S. Attorney's Office, Utah law enforcement agencies, the Office of Inspector General, and the Utah Department of Health.
Previous to working with the Attorney General's Office, Mr. Farraway was a Deputy Washington County Attorney for nine years.He represented the State of Utah and Washington County in criminal, juvenile and civil matters.
Mr. Farraway has been an instructor at the Dixie College Criminal Justice Program and the Weber State University Criminal Justice Program Peace Officer Standards and Training Program, teaching such subjects as juvenile law and procedure, criminal law, laws of evidence, liability of peace officers, Constitutional law and Bill of Rights.
Mr. Farraway is a member of the Utah State Bar Association, the Uintah and Ouray Ute Indian Tribal Bar, Utah Financial Crimes Task Force, Elder Abuse Prevention Team and Utah Health Care Fraud Task Force.He is the Western Regional Representative, for the Executive Committee of the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units, and a member of the NAMFCU National Task Force on Patient Abuse and Training Committee.
Mr. Farraway graduated from BYU with a B.A. in History and from the University of Tennessee College of Law with a J.D.
