With Jack Macartney unavailable for large periods of time Ranshaw was able to finish as the club's joint highest scorer along with Jack Fahy.He played for Grimsby Town, Chesterfield, Mansfield Town and Lincoln City during The War, but after the end of hostilities he returned to London Road where he continued to be an important member of the side and appeared in every round of that season's FA Cup run, including both legs against Kettering Town and Mansfield Town.Jack's final goal for the club came in his last appearance for Grantham, in February 1946 at home to Bradford Park Avenue Reserves, and he then returned to Lincoln City, making three appearances for their first team, before joining Peterborough United, Boston United, March Town and Nettleham United.For many years after the end of his playing career he was groundsman at Sincil Bank and ran a newsagents at Nettleham.Died May 2003.
