Like Bowden, Dan Ewing enrolled in Westchester Academy two years ago after attending Memorial High School and a private boarding school. He also attended Spring Branch Middle and Memorial Drive Elementary schools.
Ewing, who plans to attend the University of Tulsa and pursue a career in mechanical engineering, is the type you,ll find out in the garage - tinkering, taking things apart, building and creating.
,I really like Shop class. That,s my favorite kind of class.Anything that is broken - I love to take it apart,, he explains. In fact, he has his own wood and metal shop in a garage at home.
School has not been easy on Ewing, who had a hard time in some classes. He has taken Advanced Placement calculus, and he enjoys technical sound and lighting, computer-related skills and online classes ranging from AutoCad to economics and government.
Interestingly, Westchester Academcy Principal Pamela Butler was Ewing,s first-grade teacher at Memorial Drive Elementary and his fifth-grade Sunday School teacher.

,Dan has had his ups and downs. However, Dan returned his senior year a changed young man,, Principal Butler says. ,Rarely have I had the joy of witnessing such a positive and profound change in a student.Dan is a very intelligent young man and has grown much in the past.,
